Very similar to my pet peeve (mentioned above I think) "I'll take defence" soon followed by "I defend, everyone else attack" soon followed by "Defence is down, HELP" erm.... I hate defending the zone directly, although I am happy enough to bail out the goalie if he cras...

A byte has been 8 bits since well before I started programming (1982-ish) Amiga was a 16 bit machine, but still certainly had 8 bits in a byte. BBC Micro Commodore 64 ZX Spectrum ZX81 all predating Amiga, and all 8 bits in a byte. I'm very puzzled by this subthread and think I am probably missing so...

I agree that leaving a small gap is not the end of the world as long as a sufficiently impossible mess of walls lies beyond ;) One problem is that the trails from these dead attackers can sometimes last a good while longer than the trails of teammates and delay the final close off. In some cases, th...

All this is good, as long as you dont screw up and kill yourself meantime ;) been playing a lot with my strategy tonight - as you say it is slow progress against a good defender, but hey, I normally make no progress against them, so it's all good! anyway, found a very nice way to speed things up. in...

improvement on my "wedge" technique for attacking. A good technique for taking a zone for those who do not have the skill or speed to fight the defence directly is to zigzag along the outer wall, touching the wall from time to time, but keeping an eye on the rubber guage. go right along th...

Some great points from silly, but I have a couple of queries Thirdly, if you're the outer of an inner/outer defense, don't make some long grind at the beginning thinking you need to get up speed. If you are too quick on the break, you return to the middle too quickly, before your trail is gone, and ...

I did wonder if there was some history behind your reply ;) I have been trying to fathom the way players are positioned and can't work it out. When I first started playing, I used to drift towards the middle. Now, lately I tend to start in the middle and drfift outwards. does the software take note ...

Fortress strategies - practical

In the FDortress thread above, there has been much speculation about good/bad strategies, what works, what doesn't etc, and I thought it would be cool ifsome of the theory could be practicesd in a "controlled" environment. I was thinking along the lines of 1 team purely defends, the other ...

In defence of Belly's post, There is a situation which often occurs on a busy server where a person comes in on the outside of the group, and wants to attack. he will push all the way to the front, not caring to give those ahead room to move. They are the first to cry when they get cut off. As a nat...

As you quite rightly say, your way of making adjustments is much better, almost certain death for anyone trying to follow you in there, but still there is potential to do the same thing, although I am unsure how it would work ot after a few turns. maybe the second part of your L would have to get pr...

On the rare times when I end up 1 on 1 with a defender, I absolutely love when it is one using a scheme like meritons. It is nearly impossible to breach in the normal way, unless you are very quick/skilled, but you can take advantage of the sporadic wiggling. Keep your distance, you need to make sur...

think I was playing while luci was doing his undercover-boss act. Maybe he was being luci then, I dunno. pointit, SOMEONE was doing it, and it was A Good Thing (TM) so I was looking for the call, but not really who was making it. certainly it stopped a lot of the suicidal pileups. One thing that did...
