been trying to evolve my technique into something similar, but als my death rate is about 90% and the remaining 10% is where the goalie spontaneously combusts! Until I get better at geting my fat ass through tiny moving gaps I am stuck with annoying the hell out of spectators with my safe but effect...

I did build from source, also tried using the latest deb, as well as previous debs and the one on the ubuntu CD I originally installed from which had been stable. The problem has gone now, so a recording would not be much use. My current moviepack doesnt seem to be a problem (although I have customi...

Just a thought regarding the random crashes - I had a period of this, tried upgrading, downgrading etc and whatever i did i had random crashes, normally when the game reset at the end of a round. I now think that this was because I was running a custom moviepack I had made myself, and this was someh...

I completely agree with what meriton says about circling the zone. the last thing we want is another reason for people to mindlessly circle the zone waiting for a gap that is never going to materialise. What about using the rankings of the players to apportion points? Somebody who kills the newby mu...

How about a game of "bulldog"?

one player starts as "it" and tries to kill the other players as they move from end to end. as each player is killed, they also become catchers. hence as the game progresses, there are more catchers and less runners.

Last man alive is the winner.

Also another possibility would be a "king of the hill" style where each team tried to overturn the fortress and then hold it while the other team attacked. I think this may be better with 3 teams, and respawns on dying, so the defensive side is constantly outnumbered. The 2 attacking teams...

Apologies for the off-topicness of my post - I confess to some pre-bedtime browsing and I didn't really read the whole thread. In the interests of highlighting good play, it strikes me that just as computers cannot detect malicious play, they cannot reliably detect good play. In both cases, however ...

how about a single "flag" spawned somewhere around the midfield. either team can capture it, and take it to their base whereupon they are credited with the score. the flag then respawns. I see this creating 3 zones of conflict, one around each base, and one around the flag itself. it'd be ...

Im not sure that points deductions for teamkills would achieve anything. firstly, many team kills are the fault of the person killed. Secondly, a person intnt on disruption would not care about negative tallies - indeed it could be taken as a trophy. Worse still, a disrupter with a particular proble...

the time-out function that waits for players to stop chatting is back. This time, it only listens to the team leaders, so there is less potential abuse. who is team leader? does this mean if one person talks, the server waits otherwise it continues? also, several times tonight the server froze at t...

why do the zones have to collapse at all? why not have the "flag" get captured, but the zone remains intact. there would then be no need to worry about respawning it.

This type of scheme is a bit different from many, if you do the maths, it actually does work out very viable for the company to dish out free goods. I actually do know several people who have successfully used this type of thing to get free ipods, Having said that, the general concensus regarding sa...
