Re: Ladle 91

we're pretty open to anyone who wants to play, but you have to ask early because we tend to fill up early in the month

Re: Too long; didn't read

ks forums had this (as well as a lot of reality TV forums). It allowed you to title your spoiler however you wanted so people knew what they were clicking on

marginally related: can we stop using "colored text" as an example of something that is valuable or relevant for players to learn?

Re: Armagetron is NOT dead, here's why and how to keep growi

at some level, it's what Phytotron has been saying for years, and what I've disagreed with in different contexts. People download the game to play Tron, not to play high rubber, or sumo, or fortress, or capture the flag. The download it to play something resembling the sequence from the movie. The d...

Re: Armagetron is NOT dead, here's why and how to keep growi

people shouldn't complain about content updates. There are new servers, new game modes, new settings all the time. An update for a big game is a minor change of stats on a weapon or something. Just go to sumo and change the cycle_speed by 2% and the rubber by 1% and you'd have an equivalent to a maj...

Re: Ladle rule change discussion: substitutes from other tea

i'd rather play with five than have my opponent choose my sixth player. seems like it creates a whole other set of problems regarding sabotage. your first idea is fine in theory, but semis and onward, teams already never ask if they can sub in players as they are supposed to. Last ladle, for example...

Re: What it is it going to take to make a .4 stable release?

a simplified version of the icon from Lacka's armaunified work. I traced out to make an svg, but the file format isn't allowed as an attachment might be controversial, but we should probably harmonize whatever icon is used for the site/forums with the game. Obviously, right now and for the past ten ...

Re: Ladle rule change discussion: substitutes from other tea

Sacrificing the desires of an individual member to increase the team's chances of winning is literally the definition of teamwork. We can't rely on bad teamwork to prevent abuse of this system. and from a purely selfish standpoint, I would love if this had existed all along. Instead of marvelling th...

Re: Chess Puzzles (lichess training thread)

I put my drafting chess thing up here: http://revolverarma.tk/cold-war/ needs a lot of game balancing and is very bad atm. The engine is not entirely complete (no pawn promotion and it doesn't tell you when you're checkmated, although you can tell because none of your moves are legal, I've just not ...

Re: Ladle rule change discussion: substitutes from other tea

unless the 2nd team is strictly limited to a designated Substitutes open team, this idea threatens to seriously degrade the integrity of the Ladle and Ladle results. It is not at all unconceivable, and not even unethical, for the best player on a given team to be designated to sub for another top le...

Re: Getting better Q&A

obviously whether it will be right or not depends highly on your level of coordination with your teammate and the level of awareness of your opponent. The amount of teamwork required to make 2v1 killing efficient is neither common nor trivial, and killing the 'teamwork' darling is usually the right ...

Re: Getting better Q&A

there is no doubt there is strategic value to the midfield, the problem is opportunity cost. The strategic value of being near a zone is just higher in most cases.
