I need mad help in 3ds Max

Post by DrJoeTr0n »

i just got a copy of 3ds max6, I know how to export to .ase but my big problem is what ever I make (Say a Box.) is transparent and the bike skin will not load on it, any help would be great and will get credit on Armarocktron.

EDIT: it would be best to fint way to import .ASE files, the one in the other thread that was posted much much earlier doesnt work for version 6 even though its supposed to be which is weird.

i can import .ase & export for you as whatever you need..

the problem you describe sounds more like a problem with the .png

you need an active alpha channel on the .png, & if you want the entire bike to be visible & look like the texture map, maybe make the alpha channel 100% white

if you need more detailed 3dmax tutorials, u could meet me in #revolt-chat on ausnet.org IRC servers & i can give you some hands-on tute, or we can do a questions/answers session..

to apply the texture, you use "uvw-map" then to stretch its tetxure u use uvw-unwrap

keep all your textures in the /scenes/ folder

blah blah

good luck!

Wow, snazzy looking! I'll have to try it up!

Post the png and a nice 500x375 screen shot and I'll put it with/near the low count cycle shape.

Hello again!

check up http://guru3.sytes.net/viewtopic.php?p=18588#18588. All that relates to the cycles.

I'm a bit tight on time at the moment, so I couldn't go around the forum and locate all the cycles, all the skins and walls images. I would like to ask for someone to lend me a hand on that. (Yes, I'm tight on time, but I took some to start the new list, because I knew otherwise I would forget about it)

On another note, I was thinking:
There should be a few "official" bikes models. Like the original, the original moviepack and the low-poly. The skins should 'support' theses models (ie, have a version for each of the models). This could lead to a first step in personnalisation of the bikes in net games. The information about each players skin would be exchanged, and each local cycle displayed with it. The wall picture would also be personnalisable. Well, all of that would surely go well in another discussion!!!

Edit:
I've jsut started a discussion about re-organising all the skinnable aspects. Plz move the appropriate comments there.

You should explore a bit the forum.

In the "Graphical Development" room, the two first messages are sticky messages, ie; they always stay on top. Both are list of moviepacks and mods. Not everyting from the forum is there, but enough to make you drool!

Happy drooling
