Port Forwarding
Port Forwarding
I'm resetting my forwarding. Should I forward Port x to 4534, 4534 to x, or 4534 to 4534?
Re: Port Forwarding
That one. Bending ports around is hardly ever a good idea.Vader wrote:4534 to 4534?
Re: Port Forwarding
It still won't work. It's just not connecting to the Master server. It is now forwarded from 4534 to 4534, talk to master is on...etc. Any ideas.
Re: Port Forwarding
You might also set:
Code: Select all
SERVER_IP: IP the server listens on
or
SERVER_DNS: If your server is on dynamic IP and you set up a dynamic DNS that always points to it, you can set this variable to the DNS name to help clients remember your server across IP changes.
and
SERVER_PORT 4534

You should also note you won't be able to see your server on the list yourself. You'll have to ask a friend if they can see it.
Re: Port Forwarding
Actually, that should now be fixed reliably. If your server is on the master list, you can see it yourself if you use a 0.2.8.3 client.Tank Program wrote:You should also note you won't be able to see your server on the list yourself. You'll have to ask a friend if they can see it.
And Vader: You didn't forget to set TALK_TO_MASTER to 1? Tell us your global IP, then, so we can check the logs.

72.93.214.77
That's what I set SERVER_IP to. It says :
"Unable to accept open socket on desired port 4534"
and
"Giving up setting up listening sockets for IP list 72.93.214.77"

Re: Port Forwarding
Don't do that. SERVER_IP is for the rare scenario that your server physically has multiple IPs and you want to only listen on one of them. And even then, it needs to be a real local IP, not the IP of a router down a network wire.Vader wrote:That's what I set SERVER_IP to.
Re: Port Forwarding
The server still isn't showing. Is it even getting through?
I opened port 4534, forwarded 4534 to 4534, and set TALK_TO_MASTER to 1.

And no contact from the master servers, either. Can you post a screenshot of your port forwarding setup?
Re: Port Forwarding
One where the headers are included would be better, but this looks OK, provided 192.168.36.89 is the LAN IP address of your server. It could be.
