HUD Proposition (a wish?)
HUD Proposition (a wish?)
It coulds be nice if in the futur, a graphical hud could be used. Something like this :
It is just in the middle in fact, eheh : score(topscore)|speed (75.3)Sabarai wrote:i think it's nice yes, but the speedometer would be very inpractical that way... u could make a speedometer like a car's one, or like the one which is used in the new Renault Espace: a digital one...(just ur current speed in numbers)

Lol, ok. Of course my proposition seems to be a bit "vintage" (outrun, motocross madness etc etc), but, i'm sure that a graphical interface would be very clean to "finish" the product.
When i talk about it, i think at (to?) mmorpg or any 3d online game with 2d interface. It could be a more discrete interface, just to organize informations.
Anyway, you are the boss, it was just a suggestion.
PS : My english is definitively poor....

we discussed a bit about hud customization before but it ended more or less because of an unconnected falling out between past developers.
the hud we have today (made by subby btw) was just the start (i don't think he intended it to be the final hud), however before it can be opened up to customization/themes in any meaningful way one has to decide how one wants to draw it (like today which would be limited/complicated or using other sdl/opengl techniques) which is fairly closely related to the issue of how text is drawn. i think these issues become part of the greater sdl/opengl pondering that's going on about rewriting parts of the code and where deciding on model formats/coding is task number one.
there's lots of stuff one can do and the focus so far is mostly on gameplay and bugremoval (which is more important after all)

A fully customizable gui hud would be extremly cool but i think we will have to wait it out for pretty much what n54 said
btw ladyx your english is better then mine and its the only language i speak aside from some spanish
if i had money to bribe programmers then armagetron would be awesomen54 wrote:there's lots of stuff one can do and the focus so far is mostly on gameplay and bugremoval (which is more important after all)
