ok, you'll have to send me your files because i don't get anything "weird"

i copied and filled in the iframe-code from my earlier post and it works just the way it should as far as i can see... (i tested it again in both explorer and mozilla)

i can't do any more without looking at your files, they must be different in some way, zip them up and send them and i'll look at them

it is probably something simple but trying to recreate a problem and solving it without having seen the problem in the first place... well, let's just call that inefficient - so send the files

re: code

Post by iceman »

ok its gotta be a bug in IE, i found out what is causing the problem

in your code the < table > section has width is specified as 100%
in the following < td > navigation section the width is specified as pixels (which is exactly what i want)

but this causes it to screw up

it only seems to work correctly if the < table > and < td > sections are using either % or pixels but NOT MIXED ???

i have not seen any info on the web that says you cant have one as % and the other as pixels so its gotta be a bug

i use ie 5.5 which i have taken much time to fix 99.9% of all security flaws

i didnt bother to upgrade to 6.0 after reading about all the new security problems that it contains

at least i now know whats going on i'll try to make a work around

much thanks for your time n54 now i just have to find a way to make your code compatible with my (and other users with 5.5) browser

damn you microsoft

i recommend using mozilla or firebird/fox instead and updating the browser at least a few times a year (version upgrades), keeping iexplorer for use on non-standard "made-for-ie" sites (my default browser is mozilla but if you just need a browser firefox is better i guess - i have opera but don't think it's that good)

mozilla/fireFOO seldom has any real security issues

It's not even called Firebird anymore... Jump on the train, it's FireFox now.

FireFOO is an uncluttered flexible browser, it's the fastest browser so far afaik, has automatic popupblocker and download manager + tons of custom modules for any taste, as well as one-click privacy protection

however the main advantage is that it is based on Mozilla (Mozilla 1.0 had mostly the same code as Netscape 7.0), Mozilla is (these are FireFOO advantages by default):
- open source (gnu gpl)
- the browser with the best/most accurate implementation of w3c standards (better than internet explorer and lots better than opera)
- because it is open source and has a lot of developers it has a fast development rate (the current Mozilla version is 1.6 = 6 major upgrades - i guess Netscape is probably still at 7.0?)

so why FireFOO when Mozilla exists? well Mozilla is very big, it can be used to replace not only internet explorer but also microsoft outlook, outlook express and msn messenger as well <-- quite a lot more than just a browser in other words (there is a linux distribution where absolutely everything is done through the mozilla interface - it's a slim client distribution though... not really meant to be used for home pc's)

most important imo is that it is gnu gpl, whenever i find a gnu gpl product i will use it instead of a proprietary one unless i have very good reasons not to

armagetron, phpBB (this forum's software), mozilla, gcc (the best compiler in the world), emacs (for writing code) are all gnu gpl - some of us are looking into using blender for bike model editing and blender is of course gnu gpl as well
