I hope that if they do make a server that can display all individual walls and such that they put an option in for it not to be turned on. I like using my directional walls and most other walls do not make me happy as far as the effeciency of killing goes.

majination i once wrote a patch to stop the program drawing walls it was totally nuts!

technical details:

i disassembled the program and found memory location of the variable that holds walls_length in the program

this variable is updated from the server when you log into the game

then I added a little bit of code to force that variable so that walls_length = 1 ! lol

the result no walls on screen but you still crash into em ! very silly

Post by iceman »

its not a compile dude it was a raw hex patch written in assembler !

like my walls patch on my web site same thing (written in debug.exe ! lol)

then i wrote a program in turbo pascal to apply the hex codes to the armagetron.exe file

maybe it would slow renderering, however not all ppl use the same bike models so it could look really truly crappy (or really slow down rendering if multiple bike models in same game is implemented)

to iceman

ok i've looked in my shelves of magic and found a complete set of Visual Studio 6.0, 100% legal with independent key code. it is big, four cd's (3 of them Visual Studio and 1 msdn Library), i got it (multiple copies) from when i was teaching at a computer school.

i simply haven't ever tried using it on w98 but if you want it we just have to figure out a way to get the cd's to you. if you want to have a valid version of w2kpro as well just tell and i'll dig that up as well (only one additional cd).

the cd's are all english versions even though they were released in norway (special design for the school by cooperation with microsoft). in other words nothing important that isn't in english.

btw i only use gcc myself and the more i think of it the more i'm sure you should be able to use gcc on w98...

me and my friend have sent many CD's back and fourth through regular mail over the past few years, usually burned copies. They cost approximately 90 cents a piece to mail. I just taped them up real good and sent them off to Wyoming. Never had a problem sending or receiving.

yes, should be ok, i'll use one of them "airbag"-packages as well as make backup cd's just in case

worked a short while in the norwegian postal system some years ago and know how "well treated" mail is lol (scary place & mentality, made the mistake of meeting my former gf/cw/bitch there)

*will not go postal*
