Issues with amazon servers
I tried a linux server and I couldn't for the life of me log in to it, so I'm stuck with windows server for the forseeable future. I am, however, struggling to get my server to appear in the master list. I enabled talk_to_master, but I'm unsure as to why nothing appears to happen. UDP in and out is enabled, on ports 4500 through 4600, (I couldn't give a **** about security atm, I just want it working) and windows firewall is set to allow all connections. I even added a security rule through my amazon console, but I'm still not getting anywhere. Any ideas?

You dont have to be stuck on faildows, get that Linux server going. You would also might want to paste the output of the server somewhere.
There's a difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit. Grammar does matter.

Amazon cloud server, right? They use a very strange IP setup, it is essentially like you are behind a NAT. So you would need to set up port forwarding or similar. Sorry, cannot help with the details.

Port forwarding! I knew I would be missing something obvious. I'll get on it.
@Nux Can't be arsed, I spent an hour on the phone to Amazon, and if they can't get it accessible I cant be ****** trying anything else. I may just put cygwin on that winserver.

What does the inbound configuration for your instance's Security Group look like? (Network & Security → Security Groups)

All allowed, for all networks, secure or not.
I've got something called autapf which seems to be getting further forward than previously, what's the IP address of one of the master servers?
Edit: beg pardon, I misunderstood. I set up a UDP exception for ports 4500 through 4600 on all IP addresses, should I perhaps have been more specific?
