could not connect to server
could not connect to server
Hi, I have a mac intel computer with the most recent version of armagetron advanced dedicated. I have my settings set, and my firewall off, and talk to master on 1.
When I start it up it boots fine. I can use the Admin: say feature, and I can change settings from terminal as normal.
The problem is, when I try to connect from the server list, It says the server hasn't responded to my query, even though it shows up on the server browser, and answers my ping query.
Am I missing a step? Is there something I need to do?
I dont think Its a speed problem.

Re: could not connect to server
That's odd. With 'ping', you mean the ping in our server browser? So you see your server with the correct name in the browser? Fundamentally, it uses the same network channel as a 'real' connection. Does the server show anything when you try to connect? Can you connect via the LAN browser?
Also, state your IP and your server name, then we can check the master server logs and see whether your port forwarding is set up correctly.

With ping I mean when I connect to It from my own computer or another computer on my local area network.Z-Man wrote:That's odd. With 'ping', you mean the ping in our server browser? What I mean, Is that I actually get ping from it, and it doesnt show my ip as unreachable, and It has changed from 8 to 10 to 11 at times.
My ip is 69.237.146.48
SERVER_NAME -. 0xffff..GRAND0xffffff ICE and0xff…. TACO 0xffffffserver
Or Grand Ice andaco server as it displays in the list.
Works when I have talk to master on 0 and connect by lan.

I have tried trust_lan on 0 and 1
is there anything I can do to connect to my own server?

Re: could not connect to server
The master server logs show your server as reachable. It's bouncing on and off a couple of times, but stays reachable for long stretches of time; I assume the outages are just you experimenting. In fact, there are currently two copies on the list, you probably forgot to shut one server instance down.
Your ports fluctuate and are outside of the range usually polled in the LAN browser. You *should* be able to connect to your server over the LAN browser if you just readjust SERVER_PORT to 4534, or if you can't do that for some reason, if you reduce "Minimum Port" in the Network Setup of your client to 4500. That you can't connect over the regular browser and still ping is odd, but routers act weird at times and we just have to accept it.
The UPGRADE message comes from experimental clients polling your server, you can safely ignore it.

Re: could not connect to server
THANKS
I can connect through LAN again and authenticate as normal.
I still cant get in by server but thats ok since I can just join everyone through lan right,
When I host a server it doesnt have a seperate lan server than an internet server right?
Also, I got that message right when I joined.
But I have the release posted on the website, and so Is the server I downloaded.
Is it that someone just seems to browse with a higher version right when I connect.

Re: could not connect to server
If you're really just host one server (you had two last time I checked), it doesn't matter whether you join from LAN or the internet, it'll be the same game session. So yes, right.Iced wrote:When I host a server it doesnt have a seperate lan server than an internet server right?
Re: could not connect to server
weird, i checked my activity monitor, only one copy of armagetron advanced dedicated was running.
Re: could not connect to server
