Pirate, please use your imagination what could be the reason Your_Mom feels sick about your joke. You probably don't have to be a genius to get the general direction right. Then, put yourself in his shoes. Please take at least one minute for this process.
After this, you either feel sorry and can apologize without losing your face. You probably could not have known before.
Or, you don't. Then, an apology would do no good. Unless you're one of those people who only get satisfaction from the misery of others, you should at least stop putting salt in the wounds.

A bit of forum convention you may have missed: you can tell when a message could be a joke by
a) It is an thread where obviously everyone is having fun already
b) It has a friendly smiley in it
c) It has a LOL or somesuch in it
d) It comes from a well known clown
Your posting was missing all of this.

And your inner anger was dripping from every character you typed, that's wy I said you are mad. ( clarification for those entering late: mad=angry!=insane here ) Maybe you don't see this as a problem yourself, but think about what good your anger possibly can do for you. ( Just realized this is a heavily modified American History X quote, but true nontheless )
And I do think you are smart. You should be able to handle it and use your energy for something better.

And I really, really would like to see this thread buried. I'm actually just posting because it seems Pirate has some respect for me left, don't know why. Plase, no more food for the war-god. ( No, Pirate, not you. The daemon that is driving you and some of the other earlier posts )

On topic, since the OP is here again: Of course I acknowledge that by textbooks, C is a high level language. But as an anarchist, I don't accept textbook definitions when I don't like them, only when it is essential for communication. If I were to take a job as a professional computer language classificator, I'd adopt the language of professional computer language classificators. But I'm not, so I don't. Being strict about definitions without need gets you nowhere. Think about what reactions you get whenever you force the correct logical usage of "or" on non-programmers and non-mathematicians :)
Girlfriend, mad: "You have to make a decision, boy: take her or keep me!"
You: "Ok. Both."

Anarchy is wonderful, isn't it? :)

For the record, my wife does pretty well with boolean operators. She's neither a programmer nor much for math (lightning calculator, but no algebra) and she has trouble with normal English logic of boolean operators. She still wouldn't say the correct version "Take her and keep me", though. Instead, to simplify all this crazy boolean stuff, she'd make the decision herself. ;)

to make it short and sweet.

Mom's, i'm quite sorry if I caused you to bring back any awful or distressing revised memories, or aggrivation. (if it were anyone else, id tell you to go **** a lampost). I've known you for a long time, and I think you know I wouldn't purposely bring you down for any reason, other than playfully.

Second, Zman, I have respect for a very very very slim percentage of the people on this forum, enough to count on one hand even. I'd like to say that this dev-team here isn't worth the bandwith spent to keep this forum online. Before you returned, iceman, and maybe a few others were the only programmer's I felt were even worth time to read, not that I visited this forum often, but once ina while.

And lastly, I don't know why you're trying to psychoanalyze anyone, if I wanted you're opinion about my anger and hatred I would have asked, better yet I'd go see a shrink. The only reason I respect you, is for you ability to code, not your moral, keep all your other opinions about me to yourself.

oh yeah, no disrespect intended. hows that for a cute smiley.

This isn't edited, but I just reread everything that i just wrote, and it seemed a little harsher, and more belligerent than I had intended, but i don't really feel like revising it, just thought I'd make that a PS.

edit:
Oh, and by the way, I love C++ it's gods gift to computers, just ncase someone thought I didn't.

edit2:
yeah i just reread that again, and realized im being a hypocrit towards zman, meh, ohwell.

Burying it in nonsense is an option I'm willing to accept, too. Where's root down when you need him? His postings always manage to confuse me. Perhaps I need to meditate on them. Or smoke more pot :)

Pirate: There was no need for a psychoanalysis for me. I'm just stating the obvious. But you're right, you never asked me for my opinion. I'm here to write code and get AA forward, not to solve people problems. In fact, I hate people problems, now that I think of it. Does that make me a sociopath now? Maybe.
But you should really take a look at the code you respect me for: it's held together by chewing gum and bits of rusty thread. Everyone who dares to make only a single line of modification in there without breaking half of it has my full respect, coding prowess wise. Understanding a convoluted, poorly commented system is a hundred times harder than conceiving one.
