Auth Problem

Post by Infa(mous) »

Hi again. I'm having a problem with auth, giving this error:

Code: Select all

[1] User 1 requests authentication as "Infa(mous)@forums".
[0] Password request sent to user 1, username "Infa(mous)", method md5, message "Login with Authority forums".
[0] 1
[0] 0
[1] Login failed, reason: Server adress mismatch, 96.43.141.111:4534 (sent by client) != *.*.*.*:* (our address). Pharming suspected. If you are connecting from the LAN and get this error, either set "TRUST_LAN" on the server (only if your LAN can be fully trusted, of course) or use "SERVER_IP" to make the local IP known to the server.
I have SERVER_IP 96.43.141.111 set and TRUST_LAN 1 set, but I still can't login. What could the fix for this be?

Are you sure you set TRUST_LAN 1 on the server, and not the client?

Yes. But I don't know that it would help, since I'm not on the LAN.

You need to make the server IP known to the server, either automatically with TALK_TO_MASTER or manually by setting... umm, I forgot and can't check, there's some setting (close to SERVER_PORT in the config files). SERVER_IP, maybe.

(That was written non-sarcastically, though I now see that the error message itself suggests to try SERVER_IP. Duh.)

Yeah. That was pretty much the issue I was having. SERVER_IP is set to 96.43.141.111 (where the server is) and TALK_TO_MASTER 1 is also set. Do you have any idea why it still is throwing that error?

did you try to leave server blank (any?)?
I also got this error and I think removing/un-setting SERVER_IP helped me

That was already set as well. Even toggling things isn't helping :/

EDIT: Well... It seems to have fixed itself overnight. Weird. But now it isn't showing up on the server list.
