Upgrading to phpBB3
Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Just some comments
The forum index no longer points out where the last post was, only the user who posted. I'd prefer not to have a who's birthday is it feature, it's rather trivial </shrug> . I'd like the online/offline indicator next to the user name not under it.
edit- For some reason i quoted jonathan pretend i didn't.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Does anyone actually use access keys? I just pressed a key combination that deletes a line in the current text-widget on Mac OS X, ⌃K, and instead the “Save” button was pressed. All Mac OS X text-widgets share a common set of key combinations. Web browsers shouldn't be able to take over system keybindings.
Does anyone know a way to disable access keys in Safari? I found a way to do it in Firefox.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Here's something you forgot to include:
http://google.com
should be
http://google.com (yahoo.com)
Also, it seems like the "View new posts" and the "# new messages" buttons swapped positions...or am I just going crazy again?

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
I think sticky-topics now blend in too much with normal posts. Any way to differentiate them more?

They did.DDMJ wrote:Also, it seems like the "View new posts" and the "# new messages" buttons swapped positions...or am I just going crazy again?

All links previously referencing (for example) http://forums.armagetronad.net/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1152, are now at http://forums3.armagetronad.net/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1152.
Maybe set a word censor for that?

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
What Jonathan said. Here's a screenshot from Konqueror (Firefox is a bit better). The paragraph and line spacings are way too big for that font size. Or rather, the other way round. Spacings are unchanged relative to before, but the font got smaller (and I'm pretty sure it was at my minimum font size before). On the non-hires-monitors with a smaller (in pixels) font size, stuff looks OK.
Oh, and in search results, every thread now takes up three lines instead of two.

<Insert DLH quote here>
Blame your browser for implementing them in a stupid way
Nothing says they should be mapped to Alt-<accesskey> where they'll conflict with other keybindings. Yay for shift-ESC in opera (and yes, I do use them sometimes).
I totally agree with Jonathan, what's the point of a selectable default font size if every website thinks they should use some percentage of that? Body text should be 1em, period.
And *please* don't interpret “something really obscure” as roman numerals.

Fortunately, they're too well-known to be obscure. Or maybe unfortunately.wrtlprnft wrote:And *please* don't interpret “something really obscure” as roman numerals.

I would prefer if it showed the last topic on the index; too lazy to log in to see if there's anything new. :dYour_mom wrote:The forum index no longer points out where the last post was, only the user who posted.
Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Hmm... so far I have no problems with the new forum whatsoever. I didn't expect that. I actually think it looks better than before (I'm using both mac safari and win firefox).
Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
I would do a search for posts by any author to get the latest post, but that doesn't work any more
Apart from this: http://forums3.armagetronad.net/search. ... d=newposts which only works if you're not logged in and isn't linked to on the main page.

There is no icon prior to subforums on main forum list.

Nobody remembers my flag? Any flag at all? (Not that I really miss them.)
