design competition - a new set of wheel/s
Been in contact with Ed who produced many a splash screen for Arma already and I challenged him to produce a completely new visual for us based on a single wheel. He did, several in fact, and quite an eye-opener.
If we are going to play around with tron+ ideas, docs, films, TR2N, it may be wise for us to produce completely alternative graphics to the film visuals but something which is more elegant than the default bikes. So, when we produce promotional vids we can be entirely safe.
Competition is open to all. We can end it by ladle 20, and hopefully we can create maps of designs, and we can offer them up to the world before tronic bowl. Ed will post his sometime, but let's open it up for people so we can see some original ideas. They don't have to be perfect, basic line drawings may be good enough. We are looking for concept vehicles. Think outside the box.
In order to get an idea of the level of competition, here's some renditions by Ed of the bike they seem to be producing for the TR2N film, again based on original designs by Syd Mead.
Although we like bikes, can we make extra efforts to depart from the norm. I suspect there is a design genius out there somewhere. If you can come up with a super design for a single wheel user, I think that would steal it.

How about a train? haha just kidding.2020 wrote:Although we like bikes, can we make extra efforts to depart from the norm.
The problem with trying to model something after the new Tron movie (simply called Tron now, not Tron 2 or TR2N), is that no one knows what it will look like. The teaser trailer we are all familiar with is not part of the movie, and neither are those cycles. I like bikes. That's why I play Armagetron.

So would this be to replace the default .mod model? because it would certainly limit the way the model/texture can look.
Here's a bike I made some time ago.. don't like it too much anymore but someone has to start submitting stuff right

it's the concept that counts
i don't care if it is a scribble on a papercup
let's stretch our imaginations some
push the envelope
think outside the box
brainstorm
aim for the stars
whatever-the-fcuk gets a new image none of us have ever even dreamed of...
hey
we don't even need wheels
certainly no meat-carriage
i mean
GO consists of putting white and black stones on a board
and yet it captures something of army engagement
SO
take it as abstract as you can
visualise it anyway you want
it might spark off an idea in some other monkey's mind
and somewhere down the line
something might turn up that we are all surprised by
and amazed by!

there are lots of cooking untensils which became milestones of design...so: thanks for the complimentFonkay wrote:Kinda looks like a bunch of cooking untensils smooshed together.
Complete with pizza cutter.
but really, does this look like a pizza cutter (or a cooking untensil)? I am afraid you can cut all your pizzas with that...xD

That's interesting. Makes me think of a man/cycle hybrid. I read that was the intention with the first movie, but wasn't possible at the time. It's also why the new lightcycles have the rider molded to the vehicle.Word wrote:this is the "Drone".
I have too many ideas and not enough time, but here is yet another monocycle.
