Tourney Streaming?
Just as a question, has anyone ever thought about streaming tourney/ladle matches?
That way instead of having multiple spectators in a server you just have one person run a stream on their machine the whole time and everyone else watches from the site.
I stream a lot of my games and it's really simple to do and my computer handles it really well.
Was just a thought I've had for awhile.

I've also been thinking about this. this way we only need one spec, who has a proper connection.

I will, if I can make it work with ustream. Fibre ftw
Re: Tourney Streaming?
if the streaming page is famous it can also work to gather new people into the game, i like the idea.
Re: Tourney Streaming?
Excellent idea, I do this sometimes with league of legends.
If anyone does it, make sure to voice commentate too, doesn't have to be the streamer per se... I nominate Sine for voice commentating!

Id like to see this with the live audio commentary. New players would be more drawn to tron and fortress after watching one.

Re: Tourney Streaming?
I'm surprised no one's mentioned this, but we did stream with live commentating for a few ladles back around Ladle 32 time. It went pretty well and while some of the commentators were not too great, others (like sine) were great. I don't remember why it cancelled but it worked well before, and there's no reason it shouldn't work now.
Re: Tourney Streaming?
We were able to do it because epsy had a connection with a host at Quake Live. It wasn't really cancelled, it was just a relationship that didn't work out in the long term. We've just been waiting for someone here to take over the responsibility. Word had a good stream going once. Really, anyone can step into it.owned wrote:I don't remember why it cancelled but it worked well before, and there's no reason it shouldn't work now.

I wanna be the celebrity guest speaker plz.
Re: Tourney Streaming?
Also, it seems like it's much easier to do streams of good quality now than it was 2-3 years ago, with sites such as for example twitch.tv

here's what I used. I'd do it again but my PC crashes very often these days.
