Ladle 33 without holes
I was just thinking, perhaps it would be a cool experiment to see how this ladle goes without any holes. This doesn't mean we have to do it every ladle (unless everyone loves it), but.. yeah.
Are people up for this?

Re: Ladle 33 without holes
lol, so insa would be invencible huh?
Re: Ladle 33 without holes
I say no. When it's 3 (or greater) against 1, the team has earned the advantage to hole and win the round. Holing in other situations happens as well, but I wouldn't want to take away the most common usage of holing. Also, rounds would take forever to end, and the Ladle has no time limit for matches.

Maybe there needs to be one o.0dlh wrote:the Ladle has no time limit for matches.

Re: Ladle 33 without holes
Maybe not for L-33, but how about testing it in pick-up games? The pick-up settings deviate significantly from Ladle settings already; and they are still super fun. It would be a good place to try out new stuff, no?
Re: Ladle 33 without holes
And plus some times u cant even help holing because the sweeper could get traped and die and make a hole in the defense or you could get a lag spike and it kills you and you put a hole in the defense and plus dlh is right about the 3v1 thing

Re: Ladle 33 without holes
Good idea sine.wav
And "insa's" def is not unbeatable, get rid of the sweepers and it'll shrink 3v1. No def is unbeatable, and I feel like skill of attackers don't matter anymore because everyone resorts to holing, I don't recall holing ever being as popular as they are now and its getting a bit.. meh. Might be nice to try out no holes, or not even that, SMALLER holes. Ones harder to get through.

Re: Ladle 33 without holes
nah i dont like the idea, defender will become even more defensive and it will take ages to shrink them to death
Re: Ladle 33 without holes
Nah, I think it might make more aggressive defenders. Personally, I like to counter-attack, and one of the reasons I might not kill you is because it will cause a hole and ruin my defense. If I can attack you without creating a hole, look out, because I sure will.Gonzap wrote:nah i dont like the idea, defender will become even more defensive and it will take ages to shrink them to death
Re: Ladle 33 without holes
The reason attacking skill isn't as important anymore isn't because of holing techniques, it's because of the new style of defense where you hide 10 miles behind your tail. On the "old" type of defense a good attacker could enter the zone without losing any people. While holing was also a possibility back then (I seem to remember in ladles 26 and 27 or so, some teams used holing but no one used insa's def style) it was much more preferable to enter through a good attack. However, now, it is basically impossible to enter.Lizmatic wrote:Good idea sine.wav

Also, while it is possible to shrink, it doesn't take much skill and also takes a sh*tload of time, and usually during this time, the other team does something to get into your base.

Re: Ladle 33 without holes
yes, for agressive defenders like u, or me when i play back there for fun we would do it, but i dont think everyone think this way. I bet some won't change their style and make it even worse ^^sinewav wrote:Nah, I think it might make more aggressive defenders. Re: Ladle 33 without holes
Today, a couple dozen people played in DS Mega with smaller holes (1m I think) and no one complained; some people preferred them. This is a good sign for those seeking change.
Re: Ladle 33 without holes
It was fun usin the smaller holes (although i'd prefer using even smaller ones). It just works out well. If there is a 3 v 1 situation, it wont make it any harder to take the zone with the smaller holes (if planned correctly).
If a hole that small was made by accident and someone were to get thru, then they rightfully earned it. it takes precision to execute a attack without a hole and i think it should take precision to do so with a hole. I also like the fact that they weren't as noticeable. kinda kills it when someone's spamming "there's a hole!" and 14 ppl get through it with little or no effort. smaller holes ftw!

Re: Ladle 33 without holes
I feel like 'holing' hasn't anywhere near been perfected enough yet for it to be removed
