1ON1 Sumo Knockout Tournament - Sunday, August 16, 2009
Have you ever wondered how you really match up against the competition? Little lag, no vultures, just classic one on one Sumo!
Each competitor will be matched randomly with another player. With just one Zone and two opponents. Best of 3 (first to 600 points). The winner will move onto the next round, the loser will be knocked-out of the tournament. Eventually only two players will have surpassed them all and reach the final match. The winner crowned the Sumo Champion.
The First Sumo Knock-out Tournament will be on the 16th of August (Next Sunday). Sign-up's begin immediately and will close at 18:00 GMT on the 14th of Friday. The challenge board will be posted on the 15th of Saturday, before the tournament so you can see who your opponent will be and which server you will be playing on.
SIGN-UP'S ARE OPEN. (Will close on the 14th.)

Seems like we might need more server hosts. Anyone to offer? Z-Man, G5, Durka, CT and any others?
Also it would be very nice if we could get a simple advert on some popular servers, but I guess we won't need much advertising as it's so soon. But here's what I have;

Nice. Can you add your server details on the wiki page. Once I get a config file complete, I'll post it here and update the wiki.
I'm sure it won't be much of a problem, but I'm wondering how we're going to properly admin 16 servers and get the results accurately. I know I can manage the servers I'll be playing in. I know a few on the signed-up list that can also admin theirs, too. But if Z-Man and any other admin (epsy, compguygene?) that doesn't decide to take part can manage 2/3 at a time, then it can reduce the load on the participating players. If not I might have to just stay out of this one and help with the admining..
All the admin would have to do is go through the servers and start the matches up, then wait for the results to come in..
Another option would be; that everyone has team leader powers that can start the match and that's it. (As the list contains everyones Global ID that's participating) That's pretty much all that needs to be done. Starting the match, and waiting for someone to win two matches. Similar to team leaders in the Ladle. The only flaw to that, someone might decide to cheat, by denying a loss or restarting the round mid match.

In 1vs1, you can simply force a match restart my going to spectator mode for one round. But yeah, sure, it should be possible to admin/referee/witness several games no problem.

We also need to make sure we have a 32 slot + lobby area for players to go to announce whether they won or not

That's nice, kyle. I think we're full on spaces, unless we can some how boost the tourny to 64 players, lol.
Here's my first config file. I'd like everyone to have a look. If no objections or errors, I'll upload it and post it on the wiki. I'll wait a few days, so be quick!

I have 2 US servers you can use for the tournament if you need them. And I can admin if you'd like (I'll be knocked out in the first round anyway).
Re: 1ON1 Sumo Knockout Tournament - Sunday, August 16, 2009
Just a pre-emptive thank you to all of the admins and players who are helping out. This tournament is in great shape and it is all thanks to the great community we have here and the support we all give to each other
Re: 1ON1 Sumo Knockout Tournament - Sunday, August 16, 2009
Hey sinewav, one more US server would be nice. Can you add the details on the wiki, thanks. Every server is recommended to have 15 slots or higher in order to avoid crowding.
We agreed that CT #3 would be a lounge, where everyone can meet or something. A few mentioned the idea of a lounge where everyone can meet to report results. Seems like the best idea so far, unless anyone else has anything better. Some have issues using IRC or don't have it installed. Some don't know how to use the wiki. I'll also include a link to a web IRC and hopefully it will be used as a second resort.

Re: 1ON1 Sumo Knockout Tournament - Sunday, August 16, 2009
I've created a subculture for this
Go to Network Game→Subcultures→Edit Subcultures and edit a new entry. The settings are:
name: 1on1 SKT
address: crazy-tronners.com
port: 4536
and a website listing them
only shows the server that the ports have been added to the wiki so far. I'll make a final update Saturday night

Re: 1ON1 Sumo Knockout Tournament - Sunday, August 16, 2009
Might want to shorten the server names as for some the master server browser misses off the last & most important part
