eleventh tronic ladle sunday 6th may

Post by 2020 »

stick your team on the challenge board:
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/ ... enge_Board

current ladle holders are TuI
can they pull it off for a successive win?

remember
finals at 9pm UTC sunday 6th may
with games played preceding that every 45 mins

we tried setting up a losers brackets
and this needs a little tightening up for it to run smoothly...
any ideas are welcomed

oh
and we are approaching the 12th tronic ladle
a whole year of ladles!
wonder if anyone has any ideas to make it a big one?
we may also have a break over summer
to concentrate on setting up the league...
what do people think?

ps
since the wiki notification email service is down
please pass this info on to players on the grid
thanks

i think a break is a good idea in order to allow the AFL to run smoothly.

Also, as a "special one" as a year of ladles, maybe make more of an effort to get more people involved and for once, try to get all 8 teams entered

Any chance we are going to use non-public servers this time?

No problem with me. My server is running on l23.thp.uni-koeln.de, port 5434, and is currently not on the master list.

This is fine but we need to advertise it well...maybe send PMs to the challenge board leaders and then they can tell the rest of their members. I would highly suggest to do public servers again this week because ladle starts in less than 24 hours. We can try it in ladle 12 and get the info together before 2020 makes this thread and refreshes the challenge board.

yup
i think it better to try it with ladle-12
(unless we do the
server-password-oh-i-wonder-what-they-are-doing?-mystery-thing-teaser-for-noobs : )

consider this the last public one
so
goodluck
and let it all hang out

boss????
i think not...

i enjoyed this last ladle...
went pretty smoothly
although the finals were delayed because of the lateness of the semi...
players should please start on time
whether their full team has collected or not...

congrats to the fogies in wheelchairs
(why wasn't i invited into that team?
if age has anything to do with it
surely i qualify...?)

as for ladle-12
if people feel confident that all players can get hold of the right codes
then manage a custom connect
then we could try it...
should we start another topic to continue this discussion?

Ok, Initiator. But face it, people are listening to you when it comes to these tournaments.

Congratulations to the Fogies, whoever they are. I really would prefer non-misleading games, it would be much more fun to watch.

Server logs are up, look for "TOURNAMENT MATCH REALLY STARTING NOW!" in log.txt to get to the start of the matches.

And no, I don't mind if you find the admin password in there :)

What happened over at WW? Why was the match delayed? The Fogies were blaming Durka alone, but that's all I know. Not interested in blaming people here, but it would be nice if we could avoid these delays. Some people have to work on Mondays, you know?

ehhehehe
if they were
i'm sure we'd have at least 1,000,000 players on sunday!
hehehehhe

no
my interpretation of the ladle is that it is self-organised
i mean
i don't think i did anything on the day
and all i did was update the wikipages
which anyone could do

definitely player-led and community run :)

Basically our team had 8, theres had 6 at 8:35 PM GMT (supposed to start at 8:30) TuI said either they need the admin to start (Durka) or that since there is no semi we might as well wait. Thing is, everyone showed up on time where we should have started but Durka planned to show up at 9:15 as well as told other players to show up at 9:15. We then started at 9:20.

So the main problem here was the communication failure? According to the challenge board, the earlier start time would have been the right time, but of course Durka's time would have been more convenient, provided the game would be finished after 45 minutes.

Games seem to go longer than the schedule allows. Even those that went only for two matches went longer than 30 minutes, so it figures a good game over three matches can go longer than 45 minutes. Perhaps we should stretch the schedule? I don't mind terribly, games aren't delayed more than 15 minutes usually, that's bearable.
