New-Years American-Football Tournament - CANCELED
We will be hosting a football tournament (American-Football not soccer). Anyone is invited, no results will be recorded, this is just for fun!
Where: Rx ~ Freak Show ~ Rx server
Who: Anyone is invited, bring the gang and the beer!
When: This Sunday (January 2nd, 2011) CANCELED
Time:
4 PM (US Pacific (UTC-8) )
5 PM (US Mountain (UTC-7))
6 PM (US Central (UTC-6))
7 PM (US Eastern (UTC-5))
12 AM (UK (UTC+0))
1 AM (Germany (UTC+1))
10 AM (Eastern Australia (UTC+10))
New game-type invention...
This game consists of a long map with one "football" in the middle which both teams fight for. Teams must cooperate on both offense and defense. On each end of the map is a goal for each team (just like real football).
Brakes provide limited acceleration (like sprinting) and cycles have low rubber for easy tackling. Downed players get respawned every 20 seconds.
Strategy:
Grind on friendly walls to escort players, block to intercept enemies. Grind works best on enemy walls so you can catch up and intercept.
Scoring:
Each touchdown (bringing the ball to the base) yields 7 points, core-dumps ("tackles") don't yield any points but stalls the enemy.
Each round ("quarter") is 15 minutes (as in real football), and there will be 4 rounds. The team with the most points when the time is over wins.
You can join anytime during the match and stay as long as you wish. When you join the game, whichever team you are assigned will be your team throughout the match, if for some reason you get switched, please play nice and stay on that team.

^Someone's mad

Re: New-Years American-Football Tournament
that "game type" is called hockey/styball. nothing new.
Re: New-Years American-Football Tournament
not exactly, if i understand right, the only way to win is to reach the other side of the area, styball is more like european football, i guess you can't shoot the ball either in this game style

No, this is not styball.. you are confused because I said Football, however I was referring to American Football, not Soccer.Word wrote:that "game type" is called hockey/styball. nothing new.
This game uses Flag zones not Ball zones

Re: New-Years American-Football Tournament

Yes more like ctf but only one flag. Physics vary greatly from ctf but retain the same binding. Come play to find out the restWord wrote:Ah, so it's ctf with a custom map

Re: New-Years American-Football Tournament
I knew this name would come to haunt me ...
I'll probably just call it Rugby. Are euro's familiar with rugby?

Re: New-Years American-Football Tournament
Split the sports name discussion to here.
And yes, Rugby is well known here. As is American Football.

Re: New-Years American-Football Tournament - CANCELED
This has been CANCELED because a sty-ct update breaks the game. This will be rescheduled when sty+ct receives a patch that fixes it.
I made this game a while ago and the game worked perfectly, I just recently had the servers updated and now, whenever the ball is picked up, the server crashes.
*files bug report*
