Armagetron Development Meeting

Post by Luke-Jr »

I propose we plan a get-together on IRC for a meeting of developers (all qualifiers irrelevant, including commit access or lack thereof) and interested community members (but specifically *not* n00bish comments/questions) to discuss the current state of Armagetron (stagnant, some important services have been offline for months), goals, and solutions.

What does everyone else think? If we have a meeting, what days/times work best?

**EDIT**

When: Sunday 10th, January 2010, 18:00 UTC

Regarding times I think we could do it a bit before tournaments' times.

Yeah, roughly before the next ladle would work.

Prior to next ladle would be fine for me as well, At least I'm pretty sure that weekend I'll be free.

My intention of the terminology I used was to explicitly make the meeting open to everyone. So no objections from me at least...

Thank you for the clarification. Although your terminology did seem to allow me to come, I wanted to double-check. I am really looking forward to this.

thanks
compguygene

on my first reading
i read it was for developers
but on careful re-reading
it invites interested members of the community

i'd like to come along
be more of an observer than anything else
since most of the technical issues are well over my head

if the meeting is going to deal with issues other than technical
i'd like to edit your wiki page on the agenda
but given the community's engagement with my ideas
i am not sure if this is suitable
specifically:
the strategy of getting tron into schools
and
how arma potentially relates to the next tron legacy film

what would you say
luke-jr?

Hey, I only proposed it... :p

Personally, some of that stuff sounds like it could be better suited for a separate not-geared-toward-developers meeting, but maybe it's better off combined into one meeting, I don't know...

IMO, if there is another TRON film, Arma will need to *distance* from it, not relate to it. Disney has left us alone so far, but if TRON become a "current thing" again, that could change fast.

"if"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwvuirSEAA

it will be an issue
since they are making a game too...

may be useful for us to be clear about what the situation is within the community
because if the majority or the powers-that-be want to keep this thing small so it never pops up on the disney radar
then we should stop making videos for youtube etc

if it is not your call
whose is it?

Due to the nature of the GPL, nobody in the project can restrict the growth of the game to "remain below the radar". The only forward-motion I see in this regard is to distance the project/game from TRON.
