Doubles and Triples

Post by ThumB »

Do you guys think it is worth it to have double or more importantly triple bind keys, and if it is what key combo do you use. I have been experimenting with a lot.

i personally prefer double binding, but can't see the point in triple binding

single binding fans often sya that double binding reduces concentration/attention
i tend to agree with it, but with double binding the effect is quite small, whereas with triple binding i simply get lost

the best thing i'll recommend is double binding, but using differed(in the time) keypresses: stick your fingers over turn left buttons A and B, press A, then B, instead of pressing both at the same time
of course it's not always needed and sometimes dangerous :)

I think your decision to single, double, or triple bind really comes from what servers you like to play on the most. There are very effective playing styles based around triple binding. There are also servers that disable double/triple binding completely.

So, the choice is yours to make as you develop your own style on your favorite servers. Plus, you can always change your mind. Twice now I've changed my keyboard layout and bindings and I think about doing it again sometimes.

That is the worst excuse I've ever heard. I can double bind and glance at the same time without tearing off my fingers but I prefer to single bind. I get into this rhythm when I turn allowing to make smooth, tight, turns in pressure situations.

I have every key on the left side of my keyboard bound to "turn left", and every key on the right side of my keyboard bound to "turn right".

When I want to turn, I just bring a fist down.

(I wish I could credit whoever first said that to me, but that was several years ago. Might have been Warmonkey)

I use double and quad-box

I also agree with turtle. It does depend a lot on what type of server you play. I play a lot of DFs and Sumo, so I would want a lot of tight turns.

Only if you're more interested in style over substance. "Look at me! Look what I can do! I'm l33t because of it!"

This all depends on what you want. Usually when I want to go somewhere, I single bind. When I want to go a bit faster I double bind and accel. When I want to trap a person, I will triple bind on a 90º corner.

I really do believe it is worth it to double- or triple-bind keys. For turning left, I have bound the "Q", "W", "A", and "Z" keys. For turning right, I have bound the "X", "D", and "Y" keys.
