Fortress: Best defender?

Post by Ricochet »

ok, heres an idea i came up with.

in a bid to find out who everyone thinks is the toughest defence to crack, in fortress, i thought id make a post on here - this is what i thought.

everyone who replies nominates a person who they feel is is a very good defender (but it cant be yourself), and then from peoples replies, can find out who everyone thinks is ace.

I nominate MaZuffeR :)

i suppose most people think that sumo
is just the defencive bit in a fortress game...

i don't know about sumo
but i nominate sebol as zone keeper
and newbie as sweeper
because of their play in the last ladle

newbie is the most versatile defencive player i have seen

other defenders
alex for consistency
garisimo for his expanding and contracting
and psycho is still one of the hardest nuts to crack
hold the line

I think Your_mom is still the best defender. It's not because he can't be penetrated, it's because he can switch tactics smoothly. The only real problem is he frequently doesn't want to defend, and if his heart isn't in it or his team is really sucking (and blaming him for it) then he might even just walk away and let the other team win. Heh. But when his heart's in it, you might get in only to be defeated in detail.

If PsYkO played as much as some people do, he would definately be considered by everyone as the best defense. It's just that he's barely on much anymore, so people don't see his ability as often. Skip doesn't play fortress much either. He just mazes in Shrunkland a lot. Also, half the time he has a bad team and doesn't care about doing well.

Best overall defense: PsYkO

Best 1 vs 1 defense: Skip

NO ONE IS BETTER THAN SKIP WHEN ITS 1 VS 1!!!!!!!!! He can keep contracting and contracting, but almost never dies. "Zop" attacks against him don't work. Although, in a 2 vs 1 situation, the contracting hurts him as the 2 offenders can cram to conquer the zone.

I agree about skip being good 1 on 1, but I wouldnt say he is the best, all he really does is turn alot, which isnt that hard to attack, all you have to do is follow him, sealing him in tight, and he'll eventually kill himself off. What are "Zop" attacks btw, Ive never heard of that before.
You've gone too far, turn back!

the moves that zop does in attack, the sort of long - inside grind of the defenders tail and then cuts inside. madmax and lacka do it as well sometimes
