Weren't you the one trying to convince me lag was a valid excuse for sucking?

Partly. Of course it's possible for high ping players to win, but besides that they still have a big disadvantage. One is the unsafe area around others, which is much like the lag-o-meter. I think nemo's is generally small and he often kills while close. I just can't, because they will kill me (especially good players, worse if they have a low ping). It's like having more inertia and limited sight in a way.

Where I play my ping is usually about in the middle, around 120. I have to say, I tend to have more trouble with higher ping players than lower pinged ones, because of the way things get all out of whack when I get near them.

In addition, the way I see it, having a framerate as low as I usually do tends to, at the least, balance things out against the troubles a higher ping player has, but whom also has a high framerate.

Things don't get out of whack for me, even if I have a <70 ms ping and >300 ms ping opponents, possibly because I replaced PredictPosition() with the actual position, which works better for me.

I have Prediction off, if that's what you're referring to. ::shrug::

No, I'm referring to the function gCycle::PredictPosition.

Run in there and blame lag?

Note: my framerate was low because I was encoding video. 51 (and down to 30) is just an average: the effective framerate is lower. :(

When looking at yours, Fonkay, as well as the one I used for AA Disco, or when someone rips, or whatever, I've got to wonder—what's on the outside of the arena, anyway? The digital void? Nothing but zeros?

Unallocated memory and memory allocated to other processes. It would really wreak havoc on the system if one of the programs in the grid were able to escape out into that space.

And then the tanks and recognizers get sent out, and the MCP gets pissed. Yeah, havoc.

On some internet servers my ping is 20–30 ms (at least on the server list). But I think they're a bit closer than Texas.
