Re: C programming language discussion

I've stopped reading the tutorial on C that I was reading because it wasn't that good. Instead, I've found a PDF of "The C programming language, second edition", the book on C that was written by C's creator and another influential person on C. So far so good although it'll take me a litt...

Re: C programming language discussion

AddTwoVectors(A, AddTwoVectors(B, AddTwoVectors(C, D))); I don't think that's actually what you would do in C. I think you can define functions that can be given any number of arguments so you'd end up with something like: add_vectors(A, B, C, D) :) Yeah, the function declaration would be something...

Re: C programming language discussion

The C++ code may be shorter but does that mean it's automatically more readable or better? I'm not convinced. The "+" operator is far less expressive than"AddTwoVectorsTogether". Yes, in this case, it is automatically more readable and better. The "+" operator has a we...

Re: C programming language discussion

I'm not trying to talk you out of C, by the way. It's a fun language, and every now and then I wonder if I should go write something in C just for the hell of it. But then I remember that Python exists, and I'm happy to live in a world with such a beautiful thing as Python in it. :) :) yes, that th...

Re: C programming language discussion

I think professionally it is a lot more about how to effectively program, than knowing a certain language. Just last week, at work, I touched, php, java, javascript, C and C#, so basically I spent time looking up how to do basic stuff specifically for each language. because If you are working with a...

Re: C programming language discussion

I think nowadays picking a language it is more practical to pick a language for what you are working on. C is a good language to teach you about pointers and memory management, and has a lot of application in micro-controllers. C++ adds in Classes, winch are extremely useful , sure you can make a st...

Re: Fondest Tron Memories

Some other memories have spurred too, some good some bad. Remember the "x f***ers " wiki edit I did (man that turned into a long thread and a new era of the game. It was really one of the first changes to the ladle. Making brackets randomized from there on out. I still feel bad for the way...

Re: Operating systems and other software discussion

My ReactOS "fun" happened years ago, maybe 2007 or 2008, I set up an environment to develop it. I was still newish to linux, so I had wine installed, and QEMU set up to run it. I was able to build ReactOS on linux. So I played around, used Wine to play the solitaire app from ReactOS. Every...

Already tried that months ago(maybe even a year ago), but it was at 4pm ET. A 9 PM ETor 10 PM start time would work best for me.

Re: Armagetron is NOT dead, here's why and how to keep growi

Tron 3 is cancelled, so no popularity boost from that. They will release it in 25 years when we have full on virtual reality movies. Is this the version of virtual reality, the version that we get AI implanted into our brain, so all the feeling is the same and we can watch/ feel from all viewpoints...
