Re: Gamescom 2015
I've been familiar with SpeedRunners since early this year, from watching people play it on a stream. Looks fun. I might like to grab it (among countless others) once my PC is capable. I'll have to find folks to play with, though. By the way, it's not local-only; you can also connect across the web....

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
I got it working, but my errors were different. They were all related to missing libraries, as dlh suspected. I came across this helpful page which provided the following command: sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386 libnss3:i386 libcurl3-gnutls:i386 libidn11:i386 libpango1.0-0:i386 libpangox-1.0-...

Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails, from what I understand.

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
As I mentioned in the original post, the file called Machinarium with the gray gear icon is an executable, and when I click it I get the error Failed to execute child process "/home/username/Downloads/Machinarium/game/Machinarium" (No such file or directory) . If you were referring to some...

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
Did you install the required packages? You're probably on a 64-bit OS, but the game only comes with a 32-bit executable. Requires the following packages to be installed: libc6:i386 libasound2:i386 libasound2-data:i386 libasound2-plugins:i386 libgtk2.0-0:i386 libcurl3:i386 libnss3:i386 libxt6:i386 a...

Re: Looking for a game.
Oh, I wasn't suggesting it for you, just talking about it. :) I would have wanted to play it, myself, though. Personally, I don't really care for RPG's. I like adventure, exploration, puzzles, narrative, all that, but dislike the basic RPG mechanics; they feel like homework or something, as opposed ...

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
What the hell? That shouldn't ever happen! Try "bash start.sh" and see what happens. Maybe your default shell isn't bash, and it doesn't understand shell scripts correctly? :/ redacted@redacted:~$ cd /home/redacted/Downloads/Machinarium redacted@redacted:~/Downloads/Machinarium$ bash star...

Re: Looking for a game.
'Twas that fact you said "series" that threw me off Yeah, my mistake. For some reason I thought I remembered the earlier RE games using the same method of inventory sorting as in RE4. Conflation and confabulation, I guess. There also was something more of a FPS that ran for a few years an...

Re: Looking for a game.
When's the last time you played Resident Evil, and which one was that? Clearly my allusion to RE inventory management flew right by you. I'm looking for a Stargate RPG. :/ As you may be aware, there was a planned MMORPG called Stargate Worlds , but it was ultimately abandoned before release. :( And...

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
I don't understand why running "sh start.sh" from the command line does not work. It's opens in Mousepad anyway? Do you get an error? Nope, just straight opened in Mousepad. Until...see below. Can you right-click on the shell script and say "Run in a terminal"? Nope. For the hec...

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
Let me know if any of these work! I should have pointed out in the original post, I already tried all that (and more). In fact, it comes packaged already as an executable: screenshot.png As you can see, it wants to open Mousepad. If I click that menu, all I get is Abiword or "Other Application...

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I can't really stand that music, but I read the lyrics. "With 5 billion and I'm one of those billion." Did they write this is 1987, or are they discounting 2 billion people? (I suppose a reading of the later line "On the foundation I laid at the beginning" might suggest the lyric...

Re: Phytotron's stupid computer blog
Yo. I was wondering if I could pull a little tech support out of someone here. It shouldn't be a big deal, I just don't get it. So, I recently bought the Machinarium Collector's Edition off GOG during their summer sale. This is my first attempt at installing a game from there that has a Linux versio...
