Re: Pickup Servers: Disconnects, Timeouts

There definitely was a pause or timeout function previously, I watched a ladle where it was used by Z-man

Re: Ladle 119 (1st November 2020)

We have basically had the exact same discussion about authorities for pickup games on the discord about 1-2 months ago. I think the consensus was to use some kind of external script to force new downloads of the auth files.

Re: Hi.

Hello, welcome back!

I don't think armagetron ever came on a CD, so I guess you saved it there yourself?

You can check which version of armagetron it is by clicking "About" in the main menu after loading up the game

Re: Ladle 118 (4th October 2020)

Congratulations again to Txa. The tournament format (round robin) I felt was quite successful for this ladle given that we had so few teams. However, I think it may be a good idea to get some community agreement on what format we should take in the future if we have similarly low numbers of teams si...

Re: Anyone got a backup of ctwf maps/settings?

I've made a rough and ready clone of CTWF (called CTWF legacy) - which reminds me I forgot to restart it after the tournament on the weekend. Check the server browser :)

Re: External cam help

What exactly are you aiming for? A camera that follows you but has a top-down approach, or a free-cam?

Re: Getting old players back

this idea was actually floated a few weeks ago in the discord (not sure which channel), but the long and short is that privacy laws prevent people's forum email addresses from being used for this sort of thing

I can't see a server on the masterlist for this, have you got a host? Would be fun to try!

Re: Our GIT branching model

Very informative post. Do you therefore want us to be using the "beta" builds on steam? (options are alpha, beta, experimental and staging, I appreciate steam may not mean the same things with their terminology as you) Also: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/010/773/DenshaDe...

Re: A defense of a defense

Nanu's bottle is very good. There's no way to centre attack and survive the triple back at the end, which is possible with most quicker bottles. The dents in the middle are significant against any attempts to cut, especially lackattacks. The setup is much more flexible than a step def in terms of e...

Re: A defense of a defense

I noticed (and briefly mentioned) your somewhat unique defence style. It is interesting to understand the rationale behind it. I still believe step or some variant of step defence is probably the overall strongest defence, mostly due to its simplicity. I don't think a lot of time has been put into d...

Re: Ladle 117 (6th September 2020)

Gz Twixted arrows, something is going to have to be done about your dominance! From the discord, Thump raised the question of a double elimination tournament. There was some good discussion about it and a few good suggestions by Durka that were quite well fleshed out: Idea for next Ladle: One giant ...
