Re: statement of unease
You're going along the right lines. Just think of the simplest way this can be done, and that's basically it. I am trying to get something happening in the real world which complements this. I will either get the result I want by the end of the month, or I won't. That will determine whether my propo...

Well, I'd like to leave it better than, "let's hope so"...Tank Program wrote:Yes. Because nice moderators can help.

Re: statement of unease
I think for this, all you have to do is ask. Yes, you would have thought... I got tired of climbing up a slope, as everything I have suggested has been treated pretty badly, suspiciously, and so on. Just look at this thread. And where it came from. The last thread was locked. Why...? Because I post...

Re: statement of unease
There's just too many leaked sex tapes for you to sit there and tell us there's a way for it to be kept secure. Well, the simple way is for me to trust you to record it, and I give my word that I won't. As for having a go at me, I really don't think that will happen. And if it does, you've got the ...

Re: statement of unease
I am sorry for going off on a spin. A few things came together, and I was caught off guard.
I appreciate that you were not meaning to be offensive.
We're good.

Re: statement of unease
For some reason the Moneyball second half is stuck, so I will have to wait and see. We have different ideas, don't we? About what is transparent. I am working with the guy in the video, and I like what he is saying and how he is working. He is a reasonable player here in London, and is well placed i...

Re: statement of unease
I am not pressuring. I am stating the request. If people don't want to take me up on it, that's fine. There is an issue of trust going on here. And I have had enough of it. I want open and simple and human. That's the way I work, that's the way I live. That's why the open source movement makes sense...

Re: statement of unease
Firstly, to get the record straight, in writing, here, on this forum... let me say, that I am requesting, not bullying. I am attempting to alter conditions, to stand up against "the way things are". I am not the goliath here. I am not the heavy weight. That is, I am using the medium that I...

Re: statement of unease
I would be happier if we avoided the closed-door syndrome. You can record, keep it locked for ever if you wish, but at least you have something which can be used should the need arise. Or get a trusted source like Tank to record. Players turn up because they want to play. And if they miss the start,...

Re: statement of unease
@concord: i agree @z-man: wrt recording: let's record it, and you have complete say on whether it goes public. I just think it may be a useful document, retrospectively. Decide later. wrt timing: (sorry about fragmentation) "You can't trust them to turn up on time." Essentially, that's wha...

Re: statement of unease
It's amusing that what seemed so alien to people when I started suggesting it, seems so obvious now. I am not claiming I invented tournaments. Or clans. Or Fortress settings. Neither have I claimed that players should understand anything about philosophy, or grand purposes, etc, etc. What I contribu...

Re: statement of unease
That's an approach, Z-man. I personally never liked the idea of incentives in my classes, because they seemed to me to be too much like bribes. You are not suggesting exactly that, of course, more an incremental bonus system. My proposal is simpler to implement, as far as I can tell. It comes down t...

Re: statement of unease
And you think your proposal can generate enough income to pay for, say, one or two of us full-time? With all my thinking, it is scalable. If it scales, then yes, more than two. Depends on various factors, technical as well as social. Sustainable for a period of at least two years? Because anything ...
